Baldwin,WI--The Hero Squad (1st/2nd & 3rd/4th Multi-Age classrooms) proved their hero status by planting two Fall Fiesta Sugar Maples at Greenfield last week. As the students can tell you, trees help the environment by cleaning the air, producing oxygen, and providing shade for the building and future Greenfield picnics. The students chose the names for the trees: Mabel and Melvin Maple now join Elmer the Elm which the same group planted last year.

The trees were provided by the Botany Belles and Beaus Garden Club and the Baldwin Greenhouse. Garden club members assisted with the planting of the trees. This is a rewarding experience as the students are so excited to dig the holes, discover worms, and tuck the trees in to the soil. One of the teachers, Mrs. Dittman, shared how she did the same thing when she was in first grade and pointed out how big the trees along County Road J now are.
